West Saint Paul Master Bedroom

Story:

Before: This spacious attic space was finished just enough to be used, but was in need of an upgrade.

After: Warm insulation, cohesive finishes, and stylish built-ins create a Master Bedroom made for the kiddo’s play time and mom & dad’s quiet time.

Highlights:

  • Marvin replacement windows are painted on the inside and weather resistant aluminum clad on the outside, with decorative grilles to accent the original character of the home
  • Inefficient baseboard heat was replaced with a period appropriate radiator salvaged from a previous project
  • All new electrical and lighting plan gently illuminates while providing light for specific areas
  • Closed-cell urethane foam and rigid Thermax foam insulation keeps the bedroom cozy in the winter and cool in the summer
  • Precise framing and drywall edges create clean lines where roof rafters and walls have settled over the years
  • Custom cabinetry and bookcases provide much-needed storage and display space
  • The new reading alcove is a serene place to escape into a book
  • New Hickory flooring invokes natural beauty and warmth
  • Mismatched doors, doorknobs, and cabinet hardware have been replaced for a unified look
  • 1970s millwork has been replaced to match the original 1920s trim
  • A combination of bookcases and open railing create storage while bringing sunlight down into the stairway
  • Ill-finished closets now have bright lighting and matching floors
  • Paint colors are warm and inviting, for a relaxing retreat
