Story:
Before: A bustling family of four needed another car stall, additional storage, and wished for a large 3-season porch for the entire family to enjoy, plus a traditional sauna would be a wonderful bonus and dream come true!
After: The addition blends seamlessly with the original architecture and provides storage, functionality, and a bright, sunny space to enjoy the summer months.
Highlights :
- An additional 1½ car garage was added to the back of the home – providing ample storage along with space for another vehicle. This required the electrical service mast that supplies electricity to the home be relocated to make way for the addition.
- A second-floor was built above the existing 2-car garage to include a 3-season porch, laundry room, and traditional sauna.
- The rows of windows in the porch let in generous natural lighting and provide a wonderful cross-breeze for hot summer nights. The oversized ceiling fan aids with air movement.
- Shiplap in a light, soft color was applied to both the walls and ceiling of the porch to add subtle visual interest.
- The porch’s vaulted ceiling, with wrapped beams, gives a grand feel to a cozy space.
- A neutral, maintenance-free floor was used on the porch to provide a backdrop for colorful area rugs.
- A large doorway connects the addition to the existing second-floor hall. This allows the bright plant-filed hallway to remain sunny all year round.
- The traditional sauna boasts plenty of seating, a glass door, and custom accent lighting.
