Story:
Before: An awkwardly divided, disjointed, and uncomfortably chilly second floor.
After: The bright, open, warm second floor in this South Minneapolis Bungalow resembles a Scandinavian chalet.
Hightlights:
- Skylights let in natural light, no matter the season
- A light filled vaulted ceiling raises the ceiling height from seven feet to nine feet
- Closed cell spray foam insulation to maximize ceiling height and insulation value
- Patching into already mismatched birch, fir, and maple hardwood floors whimsically displays the home’s history
- Custom cabinetry houses media equipment, books, and an extensive record collection
- Honed copper Schoolhouse Electric wall sconces warmly illuminate a new workspace
- Hand framed dormer with hipped roof maximizes usable space, while seamlessly integrating to look as though it was always part of the home
- Custom-painted Pastel Green Malm Zircon gas Fireplace
- Marvin Integrity glider windows for warmth, light, and beauty
- Cedar was hand-aged and crafted into sliding barn doors and a “hobbit door” for access to the insulated and drywalled attic storage spaces
