Story:
Before: Soon to be empty nesters who love to cook could no longer take the outdated cabinets and dysfunctional layout of their kitchen.
After: A bright, white, clean kitchen that balances traditional elements with plenty of quirky personality and space to create great meals and new memories.
Highlights
- A revised layout with ample work space and better circulation and carefully planned storage
- Installed a beam in the ceiling to remove a load bearing wall separating the small dining nook and the kitchen
- Built-in refrigerator and dishwasher panels, along with a concealed microwave allow the La Cornue range and pot rack to shine
- Custom built wood range hood
- Inset cabinetry with hidden breadboards, decorative feet, integrated crown molding and custom art glass inserts
- Cambria countertops and full height backsplash make quick work of cleanup
- An existing dining room doorway arch was mimicked for the kitchen dining room doorway
- Fully redone electrical plan including custom colored decorative light fixtures, under cabinet, and in cabinet lighting
- Undercabinet plug-mold keeps the backsplash free of outlets, and outlets hidden in cabinets allow for small appliances to be concealed
- Hardwood floors laced in and thoughtfully blended, sanded and finished
- Retained the original molding on the doorway to the stairs and kept the phone niche
- All new crown, baseboards and door casings match the original homes moldings
- Refinished existing radiators and built custom shelf covers
- Wallpaper in the alcove brings color and whimsy
- A place to rest and watch cooking shows with a recessed television
