Story:
Before: A Cape Cod style story and a half home with multiple roof lines made it nearly impossibly to use the upper floor, and access to the rooftop deck through a window at the top of the stairs was treacherous.
After: A full height second story with a primary suite, home office, living area, and safe access to the deck all increased the useable square footage of this home while maintaining the original footprint.
Highlights Second-Floor:
- Large windows in every room on the second floor gives one the impression of being in a treehouse
- A large primary suite has plenty of space to stretch out and relax, complete with a walk-in closet, and ensuite bathroom
- The new living area is a great location for watching television or curling up with a good book
- A new sliding patio door provides safe access to the rooftop deck.
- An additional bedroom does double duty as a home office
- The staircase was rebuilt at a safer angle making it easier to travel up and down
Highlights Bathroom:
- The double vanity has storage space to spare and enough countertop for two people to spread out their daily routines
- The large shower with multiple shower heads and a bench seat provide a perfect spot to relax
Highlights Exterior:
- By matching characteristics of the existing home, the addition looks as though it has been a part of the home since it was built in the 1920’s, and blends seamlessly into the neighborhood
- The window details from the main floor were replicated to the second story windows
- A fresh coat of stucco and a new trim color brighten up the exterior
- The front portico was rebuilt to reflect the updated style of the home
